[There is a long, long moment of Miyako awkward.

She's sitting at the desk in an inn, with three packages and an egg on the wooden surface in front of the gear. And, judging by the uncertain face she's making, she's quite uncomfortable with this.]

So... A few of my friends left this city, and it reminded me that I... have these...

They're from Valentine's day, and, um...

[Gosh, so awkward.]

I talked to a person on the gear the other day. He told a riddle about a man named Mr. Holmes. I... don't really know who it was but, um... I... got you something?

And, um... Ken-ku--Ichijouji-kun...

[She looks away, cheeks burning red.] I... got something for you too.

And this egg! [LA LA SUBJECT CHANGE. With that, she reaches past the three gifts and lifts up a bright red, blue, and white egg.] I'm... Is it mine? It is, right? It's... well, I don't know what it is, but it'll be neat to see when it hatches! It hops sometimes!

...is that natural?

So it seems. [He turns the egg over in his hand, smiling.]

It's smaller than all the others, so I was surprised...have they ever come in different sizes before?

[Ken relaxes when talking about Pokémon. He's taken to that aspect of this journey quite well.]

Well... not as much as I've seen, but I guess they'd have to since they're eggs and different pokémon and stuff.

I just thought it was all some crazy magic this place had. [She shrugs. The more they chat, the less time she has to fangirl. Keep going, Ken!]

Maybe that one you've got is just going to be a tiny one. That'd be really cute!

A tiny one....Maybe so!

[He grins at his egg, excited to find out what's in it - but Happiny nudges him, wanting "her" egg back, so he passes it back to the Pokémon. She looks quite pleased with herself as she slips the egg into her pouch.]

So yours - hops?

[She giggles. His other one is so motherly, it's adorable.] It's like that's her new baby.

[And she nods quickly at his question.] Just kind of wiggles about. It keeps moving down the desk!

[He smiles at Happiny, who is indeed thrilled to have a real egg to look after, burbling some sort of soft nonsense to it.] I - hear they like small stones, too, to protect...

[But that's interesting, about your egg. He gives it thought.] Your Pokémon must be very active already. Maybe it wants to hatch?

To protect? Oh wow... I guess that one will become your biggest helper. [Ken why did you end up with this adorable mother-hen of a Happiny?]

Maybe it does... I don't know... [She taps the shell a little.] Hey, little guy, wanna come out yet?

[And it wiggles in response. Maybe...?]

It's listening....

[Ken is watching your egg intently, as if he's as interested in the results as you are, Miyako.

Or maybe he's staring at you.

Nope, probably the egg.]

You think so?!

[She's completely oblivious to his staring... at the egg, now filled with new excitement that her egg can hear her!]

Try talking again. Perhaps it'll respond.

[Now he's curious, too. He hadn't really conversed with any of his own eggs, though Happiny chatters to hers sometimes.]

Okay, I'll try that!

[Leaning close to the egg again.] Heeey Eggy egg, are you gonna hatch soon? Everyone's excited to see what you'll be when you come out and say hi! Wanna come say hi to Ken-kun?

[And the egg bounces again.]

...I think it's saying hi to you.

...ah.

[Ken's not convinced of that, but if you say so...

He brings the Gear closer in the hopes of amplifying his voice, feeling ridiculous. But he's among friends. He's supposed to loosen up with friends!]

Hello...to you, too.

Well, it bounced at the question! So I'm sure it did.

[And it bounces again when Ken speaks. The egg is totally responding to his voice... Or just sounds or noises. Or it's just a bouncing egg.

Miyako's pretty sure whatever is inside here is totally buds with Ken. She laughs as she pats it gently.]

I think it likes you.

[Ken smiles awkwardly. He hopes he's helping.]

It's excited to be born....

It is! But it doesn't seem to want to come out just yet... Maybe tomorrow.

[Eggs, the promise of new beginnings....that, and it's oddly charming to think of the creature already wanting to meet them. Studies did indicate human children can hear their parents before birth, so why not Pokémon...?]

It'll know when it's ready. Let's trust it, and wait.

[She nods.]

Patience is a virtue and all.

[A simple nod. You put that well.]
